What Spiritual Enlightenment Have You Experienced?

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

In a previous post, “What Can You Learn From a Cat About Life Happiness?” I mentioned that my daughter, Natalie, was run over by a pickup truck.

Here’s how it happened.

As Natalie rode eastward on her bicycle and from the sidewalk of busy Garnet Avenue in San Diego, California to cross a small street, she saw that she was about to be struck by a pickup truck. The truck had been westbound on Garnet Avenue before turning left onto that same side street.

When she saw the truck headed towards her, Natalie figured she’d be hit and then get up afterward and be okay.

But that was not to be the case.

The truck hit her bicycle…

When Will Obama’s Words Inspire You to Reach Your Higher Self?

the 44th President of the United States...Bara...

What a glorious day this is! Today Barack Obama became President of the United States.

It’s a time of hope for us… A time for a new beginning.

What role will you play in it?

In an eloquent and inspiring letter to his daughters and to every child in America, published in Parade.com on January 14, 2009, Obama wrote about how he was first centered on himself and his success.

Then when he became a father, his focus changed. He got in touch with his higher self. He felt a need and desire to help his daughters have every opportunity for their authentic happiness and fulfillment.

And he wants that for all children. Don’t you?

Will you become happier and more fulfilled when you get in touch with your higher self?

Have you fulfilled your life’s purpose?

Ponder these excerpts of lyrics from my song, “Will You Make The Difference?”:

What Price Are You Paying For Your Lack of Self Empowerment?

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Remember when I was telling you about “Blackie”, the diva cat?

Well, I have another story about Blackie….

about her self empowerment.

Now, Blackie is not a big cat. She probably weighed no more than ten pounds back then.

In the house where she was living there also lived a big black dog named Jake. I’m guessing he was probably 6 times the size of Blackie.

Yet when big Jake provoked her,

What’s Your Plan For Making Peace?

Friday, January 9th, 2009

There’s just too much disagreement going around, isn’t there? And most of it, if not all, arises from prejudices that you learn. You get influenced by parents, teachers, preachers and peers who were influenced by their parents, teachers, preachers and peers.

And on it goes. You pass it on, too.

But wouldn’t it be better to evaluate the sense of that?

How can you think you’re better than someone else?

Don’t we all have the same Creator?

If you don’t have a plan for making peace, consider the lessons of my lyrics for ‘Arise With Peace’:

What Can You Learn From a Cat About Life Happiness?

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Let’s call the cat Blackie. She might be embarrassed if I used her real name…..or maybe not! She’s a diva, you know. It says so on a pendant she proudly wears dangling from her ladybug print collar.

Blackie is so excited, knowing that this time she gets to accompany her owner, Natalie, for a visit to Houston, Texas to visit her parents.

That would be me and my husband…parents of Natalie, not the cat.

By the way, Blackie is a native Texan…from Corpus Christi, to be exact. Natalie and a friend chased and captured her as a frightened little kitten on the campus of Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.

Blackie was taken away from her mom and siblings who were all stray cats. With her capture, Blackie was on her way to a better life provided by Natalie, a life that took her to live in California… in places where cats are cherished.

As a native Texan, going back to Texas is really special to Blackie. And, of course, she’s spent long periods of time with us, like after Natalie miraculously survived . , ,

How Might Inner Healing Change Your Life?

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

You might think that growing up on a farm and ranch as part of a large family would be delightful.  Well, let me tell you… it wasn’t so for me, at least most of the time.

Don’t get me wrong. There were happy times….like going to the Ice Capades show and to Disneyland and to Colorado and Florida. At Halloween we wore decorated paper bags over our heads and trick or treated at our house…only at our house, nowhere else.

7 Years of Bad Luck

My childhood was riddled with pain….pain from my emotions as well as pain from bodily injuries caused by accidents….one per year during my first 7 years of school.

I remember writing a paper for school about my 7 years of bad luck. And the accidents didn’t stop when my childhood ended. They continued for many years after I was long gone from the farm and ranch.

Why was it that I had so many accidents while that wasn’t true for any of my 6 siblings?
