Peace. Love and Happiness

What Do You Do to Get More Peace, Love and Happiness?

Just the other day while taking a walk in my neighborhood, I heard the cheerful chirping of two cardinals. One of the cardinals, a handsome red male, perched himself high above me on a tree branch. And as he loudly called out, a similar chirp in the distance immediately answered in reply.

I enjoyed this treat, the back and forth banter between the two birds, for several minutes before continuing on my way home. I appreciated my encounter with nature. What a great way to experience peace, love and happiness!

Then guess what I found the very next morning while reading the Houston Chronicle?…

A heading cleverly titled ‘CHEEP TRICK’ caught my attention. In the brief article that followed, I learned that the mayor of a city in California had proposed the idea of broadcasting bird chatter from loudspeakers on Lancaster Boulevard.

His reason?

Because science shows that listening to birdsong makes people happier!

Well, I didn’t need to rely on science to figure that out, but if you’re the skeptical one who only believes what science proves, there you have it! If you want to be happier, try listening to birds singing.

Of course, there are many other ways to create happiness… an endless supply. When you’re open to receiving, you can get happy from so many little things.

Why not try this one?

Get up and dance
when you’re feelin’ down.
Let the music move you
and take away your frown.

If dancing isn’t your thing, what else could you do?

What about listening to joyful music?

Or watching an inspirational movie?

And now I’m curious. What are some of the ways you have experienced peace, love and happiness?

Till next time…

Never feel as if others are more capable of doing work and you are not. Be confident about your work. You should always have a pleasing personality which will make you feel all the more confident. There is this latest movie released by the name “Kung fu Panda 2”. In this movie the panda himself finds his inner peace. And then you see how he goes with his confidence. Similarly even we need to feel happy from within with whatever we are and whatever we do. Never underestimate yourself.

When we live the bright mind in the bright world, true peace comes to exist in our mind. When we do not have any unhappy things, when it is guaranteed that miserable things will not happen to us, the life can be maintained peacefully and we can always feel peace.

To find love and happiness, be good to yourself. Eat good food. Get plenty of rest and exercise. Take time to de-stress and unwind regularly. Watch the sunset. Listen to the birds chirp. Being good to yourself will make you more vibrant and attractive.

To find love and happiness, you must first accept yourself as a FHB — a fallable human being. Understand and accept that you are not perfect, that perfection does not exist, and that by demanding perfection from yourself you will sabotage your self-esteem and happiness.

Never compare yourself with others. Everyone is unique in this world. Cherish the fact and feel nice about yourself. You have everything including a nice heart.

A good article seriously. It royally touched my heart. Once when I was passing by the streets, I found a cow liking the wounds of a calf. Evidently the calf seemed to be the child of the cow, but that affection touched me. This animals don’t have good logic, we as humans do have it. So it’s high time we make right use of it.

Hi Dominic, Simon, Vanessa and Shaun, Thank you for sharing your valued viewpoints. I appreciate all of you!

It is our thoughts that determine our state of mind. If we constantly cherish negative and destructive thoughts, inner peace will always remain a far cry. At all costs, we need to avoid pursuing trains of negative thoughts. This requires practise. – We cannot attain mastery of our thoughts over night. But, at the same time we always have to remember that we are able to decide which thoughts to follow and which to reject. Never feel you are a helpless victim to your thoughts.

God’s great power, which can be shown in our lives, is accompanied by his deep love. The future might be a time of world peace as never seen before, or maybe there will be more ethnic hatred and violence, more divorce, etc. In either case, no one will love us as much as God can love us. No one will care for us as highly as God can care for us.

God has a different viewpoint. He says it is shaky ground to put our hope and faith in ourselves, in other people, or in anything this world offers. Instead, he wants us to trust in him. He says, “Everyone who hears these words of mine, and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall.”

From the most basic to the most complex situations you encounter, you’ll discover that every experience is trying to teach you something. The ultimate lesson is how to be supremely happy, joyful, loving and free! It is not a hard lesson to learn, but rather a very soft and gentle one. Once you commit to being gentle with yourself, you’ll learn EVERY amazing lesson life throws your way!

Yes, Wu, vacations are great to get more inner peace. Even just a change of scenery can make a big difference. Thanks for commenting.

When you are on vacation, do you experience some sort of mental numbness? At this time, the mind becomes calmer, with fewer thoughts and fewer worries. Even while you are deeply asleep, not aware of your thoughts, you are in a state of inner peace.

Inner peace (or peace of mind) refers to a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress. Being “at peace” is considered by many to be healthy (homeostasis) and the opposite of being stressed or anxious. Peace of mind is generally associated with bliss, happiness and contentment.

Being in places close to nature gives me immense gratification. A walk down the woods which is swallowed by its serene atmosphere, thought-inspiring greenery, noises of insects & birds breaking through, creating a complete nature’s symphony is all I need to revitalize myself to retire back to the concrete jungle.

You are so right, Nicholes … I do remember how much a struggled to get a new house for myself……. but now i am so engaged in work that i dont get to spend time in my own house….. i never had peace of mind from long for i day n night worked hard 7 thought that after i buy a house i will lead a peaceful life… But look at me still have no peace.. In short no materialistic stuff can give peace of mind…..

I just love this topic for these three are different still so connected… one cant get happiness without love and cant get peace without happiness & love….
But now-a days people run in search of happiness so much that they actually forget to enjoy the happiness when they get and live a peaceful life…

I am fortunate enough I have a home which is in the interiors of the town. I agree to the read, the pleasant, tuneful chirping of different birds early in the morning, as I continue my jogging laps sets my mood upbeat & lively for the day. No wonder these sounds are mentioned so vividly in many poems/poetry.

I agree, Emily! Thanks for commenting. By the way, my husband is very good at chirping to cardinals and getting them to chirp back!

I remember when I was a kid I used try to imitate bird whistle, just in the hope of getting some response from some bird! But I certainly believe that the best thing to hear in the morning is the chirping of the birds! It makes you forget that you had almost banged your alarm clock while getting up! LOL!

Right music at right time really works wonders , I still remember once there was real tense situation in office and a colleague played a song that made me feel much better but at the same time once wrong music really made me drive nuts…. Do share any real life experience about how music gives peace n sometimes spoils our peace of mind… lolz…. 🙂

Couldn’t be written any better. Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! She always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to her. Pretty sure she will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!
