What Effect Do Motivational Stories Have On You?

I really enjoy reading and watching motivational stories. They motivate and inspire me to improve myself.

Is that true for you?

If yes, then let me tell you another one of my motivational stories.

Where shall I begin?

I think I’ll go all the way back to when I was about 5 years old. This is a little embarrassing, but, here goes. ..
I sucked my thumb to comfort myself! Yes, at 5 years old, I was still a thumb sucker!

When I felt sad, I curled up on the soft, velvety couch in our living room and sucked my thumb. As the middle child of 7 children, I didn’t get a lot of attention, and my parents did not say to me “I love you.”

Then one day my mother took a picture of me as I sucked my thumb. Apparently she was not thrilled that her 5 year old daughter was still sucking her thumb. I guess I was so embarrassed and mortified that I no longer sucked my thumb after that….at least, that’s what I remember. My mother died years ago, so I can’t verify this story with her.

But would she even remember, since she had 7 kids?

Long after quitting my bad habit, even though I no longer sucked my thumb, I was shy and self-conscious. And I didn’t know how to overcome that. But I wanted to.

When I was in high school, I didn’t like hearing that people thought I was stuck up. That wasn’t true at all. I really wanted to be friendly.

But how could I be friendly when I was so shy?

Many years after high school, shyness still controlled me. Then finally I made a huge breakthrough…

After years of studying self development and attending seminars and workshops and camps, I ended up on the stage at one of those events. Somehow I called up my courage and volunteered to sing an original song that I had just written. And I did it by myself with no musical accompaniment! On a stage in front of 262 people!

After accomplishing that, my life began to change… a lot! And in a good way. In a way that I can help you. You can read more about it in my pocket-sized mini book, Lessons From Lyrics – How to Discover Your Value and Find Happiness.

That mini book contains a lot of little lessons for you, along with snippets of my lyrics, to motivate and inspire you.  Because it’s pocket-sized, you can easily keep it in your pocket or purse to have handy when you need some uplifting.

And speaking of uplifting, here’s a verse of lyrics from my song, Uplifted and Inspired

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

“Ask for help
from the Divine.
Expect to receive it
when it’s the perfect time
to be uplifted and inspired

Find mentors.
Learn from those who care
to show you their success
and want to take you there
to be uplifted and inspired.”

And now it’s time for some input from you…

How did my story affect you?

What did you learn from it?

Will you continue reading more motivational stories?

If you answered yes, then why? What’s your purpose for reading them?

Remember this motivational quote I made up for a previous lesson:
“What one can do, others can, too.
Why not you? “

Why not write it as a positive affirmation for yourself?…

– What others do, I can, too!

Add that affirmation to your collection or start collecting now!

Till next time…

Wishing you peace, love and happiness,

“Joyce Marie’s book was a delight to read.  I have always believed in the power of music to lift one’s spirit, and Joyce’s catchy lyrics have messages that do just that.”

Very nice article. I have been a firm believer of the laws of attraction. For many years I was a slave of habits and constant shyness, but after watching “The Secret”, it slowly changed my life. What I do see however is that it will still be you who will act for the change, motivational stories, books and seminars can become a catalyst, but the decision will always be yours.
“I will be what I want to become, and the genius to change will be inside of me”
Thanks Joyce. You are the greatest.

Hi Steve, I’m happy to share the motivational story of this video. Thank you for sharing what you learned from it.

Joyce, thanks for sharing this video. It really inspired me. It reminded me that we should be contented with what we have and make the most of it. Even simple things should be appreciated and that we should not take them for granted. It’s so pity that we also look for more even though we already have enough.

Hi Joyce,
You’re so right, if we look deep within ourselves we all need something and someone to cling to which can help us sail through hard times. Just because we come across some hard times doesn’t mean we’ve come to the end of the road. I’ll look forward to read more of your post.

This post is so inspiring and motivating. Those words help a lot in my every day activity to do more and even better. This is what you call a “real” life changing words. Thanks for this post, hope I could read more from here and be inspired everyday.

Dear Joyce, you are one of the most intellect women I have seen that who can change someone’s life from worse to best with the power of words in short!! I feel that we all should learn something the way you are helping people to come up in life!!! This clearly signifies from the video which you have uploaded about Nick Djokovic who is the most inspired person I have ever met in my life!! When I met him personally in an event, you should have noticed that the charm & happiness he carries with himself is just so phenomenal!! You would never see that depression expression that this guy who is born w/o limbs & hands still managing to rule thousands of hearts with just his confidence & charm with no pains showing on his face!! He always maintains smile on his face which is the best part & also asks others to follow the suite!! I can’t express the feeling i got after meeting him!! Hats off to Nick!!

Joyce, hats off to you to show us something which is with so much of high potentiality with Nick which can leave us spellbound!! He has shown us that nothing is impossible in life!!! If you can drag yourself to the maximum possibility, then you can achieve anything in life you want!! Also, Joyce would like to add that handicapped or rather people born with such deformity come up more in life as they are filled with that much amount of courage & potential charge, which can surely help them to reach the goal mark!! Moreover, Nick has portrayed us that, if he can anyone can do this in this world!! But certain things which Nick can do, no one ever do it!! Biggest irony, isn’t it?? We should realize our potential in ourselves & drive ahead with sheer confidence!! Agreed, Joyce!!!

Nick a big salute to u!!! You are really very determined & also you possess sheer guts to drive ahead. Also, you are very much capable to yourself handle situations on your own & face any challenges!!! I sometimes wonder how someone can live life just without hands & limbs but you have showed us that if you are mentally prepared, then you can definitely face any circumstances for sure!!! You have set us an example for every individual who is just fine!! You have showed us that any hurdles in life can be faced with sheer confidence & will to do it!!! Nick, my eyes are still watery & I am in deep pain!!! Joyce thanks dear for such a motivational update!!!

owh!
“Nick Djokovic” made my eyes swell and watery…I love the way he looks in life and the possibility of doing things even though your not perfect physically and or mentally. I learn a big lesson on his story and his determination in life…he was really a big lesson to everybody’s life. His motivation in life made him a great person.
And really…..he made my nose runny..(laughs)
Love you Nick and God bless you more!

What should I say about Nick who is just exceptional in his work by motivating people though he is undergoing pains & still he considers himself very determined? I agree that self motivation is very necessary in today’s world which can turn the tables in no time!! You have just opened our eyes!!

Joyce, I must say this video has really filled my eyes with water. I am in pain whereby my heart just wants to weep & need a shoulder to express my pain… You know I just cannot forget this guy. He is simply exceptional in his works… Keep writing & make us proud to be a very good human!!!

Hi Simon! Thanks so much for your insights and kind words and motivation for me!

This video just made my eyes weep!! I mean it’s just unconditional to see how one has to face life with severe consequences & then too we see people like Nick Djokovic who is unfortunately born with no limbs & arms but see he carries enormous amounts of confidence with him which can make even the strongest to turn lose. Simply lovely, your articles are indeed very motivational & your supporting videos add more meaning to it!! Keep it up!!

I’m so happy to know that my post cheered you up, Natalie! Thank you for letting me know!

This is a good simple reminder to all of us. It also shows us how simple things from growing up can affect us tremendously! This post cheered me up-Thanks!

Natalie

Thank you, Carl! Great to hear from you! I’m glad you were inspired by my message and by the video. That video really helps me appreciate all that I have.

Joyce as always I enjoy reading your posts – thanks for sharing.

Sometimes we lose sight of our good qualities we each have and qualities which make us unique. Your message is inspiring – the video you have on this page really hits home as we don’t realize the challenges other have to overcome – sometimes other peoples challenges makes our challenges seem so small.

Great stuff Joyce!

Regards,

Carl
